Holy crap!!! Who knew??
This morning we're talking about all the ignorant people who don't know New Mexico is part of the USA. If you're one of those people, see the image above. If we chopped off New Mexico, the familiar shape of the US would look like a 6 year-old with a missing front tooth.
If you're from New Mexico, you know the story all too well:
"You're from New Mexico? Well you speak GREAT English!"
"Do you have running water?"
"Oooo! What's it like living in a teepee??"
They say ignorance is bliss. Apparently that only applies if you live outside NM.
What's the dumbest thing a non-New Mexican has said to you?
I confess that I pretend I don't know what natives are talking about when I come across someone from NM when I travel. I have asked if they had to use a passport to come to America. I eventually confess that I, too, am from NM and live there. We have a good laugh and I usually end up with a date in the end, lol.
